Lunchtime session. Suite 305, Baltic Chambers, Wellington St, Glasgow
As part of Challenge Poverty week 2019, Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) is holding a lunchtime seminar exploring the role of community development in solving poverty. This lunchtime session at SCDC will look at how community development approaches can put power in the hands of those experiencing poverty to influence the change that is needed.
Examples of community development approaches that could be focused on are:
- supporting communities to carry out their own research into poverty;
- training that helps to build understanding of the causes of, and solutions to, poverty and inequality; and
- support groups to achieve their goals, campaign for change or to work with decision makers to make change happen.
We are keen to hear how you are using, or would like to use, community development approaches to address poverty and inequality.
The session will be free and take place at SCDC on Tuesday 8th October from 12:15 until 1:45 with a light lunch provided. It will be relevant to those who are active in the general area of community development and poverty.
