Public transport can be a lifeline for those trapped in the grip of poverty to access many of our basic human rights.
However, too often public transport is unaffordable, unavailable and inaccessible. It acts as a barrier for those on low incomes to get to work, to education or training opportunities, access health services and visit friends and family.
Get Glasgow Moving, in conjunction with Challenge Poverty Week 2019, are bringing together different organisations, leading experts and individuals to discuss the issues related to transport poverty – but more importantly, how we can solve them.
The event will be comprised of keynote speakers and group discussions which will give attendees the opportunity to discuss how we can challenge transport poverty.
Get Glasgow Moving will be incorporating some of these solutions in their new manifesto and encourage attendees to take action too!
The event is free to attend and there will be tea and coffee. It will take place at Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall Street, G41 1BA. You can sign up for the event here.
