Basic income and challenging poverty

Citizen’s Basic Income Network Scotland

The Language Hub, 19 Keith Street, Glasgow

In a just and compassionate society, it’s simply not right that so many people are trapped in the grip of poverty. Poverty puts people in impossible situations – like having to choose between heating their home or paying their rent.

This event is part of Challenge Poverty Week, and is the first of our monthly meet-up’s in Glasgow at The Language Hub! On the second Wednesday of each month we will be joined by a guest speaker to explore a different topic and how it would be impacted by the implementation of a Basic Income. If you have suggestions for topics you would like us to cover do get in touch team@cbin.scot

Back to this month and our Challenge Poverty Week event… We’ll look at Basic Income, the current context, in Scotland and around the world, and how a Basic Income could impact poverty. Would a Basic Income end poverty? How would it change the experience of people affected by poverty?

We’d love to hear from you, come along to make your voice heard, to share your story or to ask questions and learn more! We’ll start off with an introduction to Basic Income, to ensure everyone’s on the same page, and then we’ll hear from our soon to be announced speaker. After that there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion. It will be a fun and friendly evening and we hope to see you there.
