PACT Anti-poverty Professional Learning for Teachers – Official Online Launch
October 9 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
The PACT professional learning offer for Scottish teachers explores the nature, causes and consequences of poverty, as well as the possible practical and pedagogical interventions to mitigate its impact on children and young people’s school education.
Please note the PACT online launch event is by invitation only. For more information about PACT, including ways teachers can get involved, please see the EIS website at https://www.eis.org.uk/Professional-Learning/PACT
On Friday 9th October the PACT Project will bring together teachers and union colleagues; senior school leaders and local authority colleagues; representatives of national partner agencies, including professional association, academic and third sector colleagues; members of the PACT Project Advisory Board and critical friends who have supported our work to date to help build an anti-poverty pact for Scottish education, needed now more than ever as the stark social and economic realities of COVID-19 unfold.
The launch event will showcase and celebrate the work of the PACT Project so far and will outline how the anti-poverty professional learning that it offers could make a tangible difference to the school experiences of the thousands of school-aged children and young people who are currently experiencing poverty. Partners will learn more about the Project and our next steps in supporting the collective endeavour of schools and teachers to place equity at the heart of all decision-making; to limit the damage that poverty does to young people’s education and to their life chances; and to continue to narrow the poverty-related achievement and attainment gap.
